The idea of Akhtar Saeed Medical and Dental College (ASMANDDC) was conceived by Dr Farooq Saeed Khan (Chief Executive Farooq Group of Companies).
It is established with the aim of providing state of the art medical education and produce graduates with highest academic, cognitive and psychomotor skills.

Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally for the innovation and excellence in Medical Education, and contributions to advancing standards of clinical practice. Culture of research will be inculcated in both students and teachers of the institute, later on embarking on post graduate medical and nursing education in planned.

Pakistan is a developing country where there is a gradual increase in the number of people falling below the poverty line.

DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES & PSYCHIATRY

EDUCATION & TRAINING

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is committed to creating customized training opportunities for our students, residents and professionals seeking continuing medical education.

Lectures are specifically designed to promote interaction and engagement of students.

Evaluation and treatment is offered for a broad range of psychiatric disorders for patients of all ages, socioeconomic levels, and cultural backgrounds. Individual, family, and group treatments are available in our inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment programs.

Conduct research and apply this knowledge to the development and delivery of more effective, evidence-based treatments.

Offer comprehensive treatment and consultation to our patients, their families, and the community.

Provide outstanding mental health education and multidisciplinary training to the next generation of healthcare providers.

FACULTY

Dr Usman Amin Hotiana MBBS, FCPS (Psych) is serving as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department . He graduated from King Edward Medical College in 2004 and completed his postgraduate training in Psychiatry from Services Hospital Lahore in 2010.

Dr Hotiana has worked at Punjab Institute of Mental Health for one year where he had a unique distinction of being the only FCPS in Psychiatry out of faculty of more than 20 psychiatrists. He was pivotal in improving the standard of teaching and treatment of mentally ill patients. He supervised the EEG department and Addiction deparment.

Dr Hotiana has presented papers on national and international forums. He is actively involved in community services in collaboration with MIND and LIGHT organizations.

His future aims include improvement in training standards of Behavioural Sciences & Psychiatry . He is pursuing a Masters degree in Medical Education from University of Liverpool & UHS.

DR Amna Nasar MBBS, FCPS (Psych) has joined the department of behavioral sciences and psychiatry. She is a very dynamic psychiatrist with a keen interest in teaching of medical students. She completed her MBBS at Fatima Jinnah Hospital. Later she completed her postgraduate degree partly at Jinnah Hospital under Prof Saad Bashir and later at Services Hospital Lahore under Dr Nasar Sayeed Khan. She has presented numerous research papers at both national and international conferences.

She has a special interest in mood disorders and anxiety disorders. She was also pivotal in producing 100 % result of behavioral sciences last year.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dilnaaz Kausar and Saman Chaudry are working as clinical psychologists. Previously Dilnaaz has served at Punjab Institute of mental Health . Saman has been trained at Jinnah Hospital .
